    General description

    4,4′-DDT (Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane) is a notorious organochlorine pesticide. It contains 77% p’p’-DDT, 15% o’p’-DDT, 4% p’p’-DDE (Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethylene) and less than 1% o’p’-DDD (Dichlorodiphenyldichloroethane), p’p’-DDD and o’p’-DDE.

    Application

4,4′-DDT may be used as a reference standard for the determination of the chlorinated pesticide:
    • In water by solid-phase microextraction followed by gas chromatography (GC) coupled with an electron capture detector.[1]
    • In human biological samples by gas chromatography (GC) with mass spectrometry (MS) detector in tandem mode.[2]
