Sodium iodide is a water soluble[1] iodide salt.
Application
Sodium iodide was used as a component in the preparation of Mayer′s hematoxylin stain solution.[2]
It may be used in the following processes:

- Chaotropic agent in the extraction of DNA.[4]
- Deprotecting agent in the removal of N-tert-butyloxycarbonyl group in amino acids.[5]
