    General description

    Menthone belongs to the group of terpenes, found in a variety of volatile oils including pennyroyal, peppermint, and geranium. It finds applications in perfume and flavor compositions.[1] Menthone is reported as a characteristic marker for the consumption of peppermint liqueurs, herbal, and bitter liqueurs.[2]

    Application

    Menthone may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in food, pharmaceutical products,[1] serum samples[2] and Menthae Herba[3] using chromatography techniques.
