Hexane is a volatile organic solvent classified as a straight-chain neutral aliphatic hydrocarbon. It is derived from petroleum distillation and exhibits low solubility in water.[1]
Application
Hexane can be used as a:
- Solvent in the isolation and purification process of quantum dots (QDs).[2]
- Solvent for the extraction of oil from crotalaria Juncea seeds.
- Mobile phase solvent in the fractionation and elution process of the essential oil of O. viride during column chromatography.[3]
