Compact Dry™ XSA detects Staphylococcus aureus by means of selective growth of Staphylococcus and differentiation by egg yolk reaction. S.aureus generates blue pigments which result in blue/blue green colonies. Compact Dry™ XS-A is AOAC, MicroVal and NordVal approved.
