General description
tert-Butyl methyl ether or methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) is an oxygenated compound.[1]. It is commonly used as a gasoline additive in fuel. Though it is known to control air pollution, it is a potential groundwater pollutant.[2]
Application
MTBE may be used as a reference standard for the determination of MTBE in water by headspace-solid-phase microextraction (headspace-SPME) method.[3]
