Application
Greener oxidant used for bromination of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds, amide bond formation from amines and aldehydes, halogenation of aromatic compounds and dethioacetalization.
Highly Selective Oxidative Monochlorination To Synthesize Organic Intermediates: 2-Chlorotoluene, 2-Chloroaniline, 2-Chlorophenol, and 2-Chloro-4-methylphenol
Hydrogen peroxide solution has also been used in the preparation of ′Piranha′, a sulfuric acid/hydrogen peroxide mixture for cleaning silicon wafers used in nanostructure-initiator mass spectrometry (NIMS) chips.
It can be used as an oxidant for:
• Epoxidation of terminal olefins under halide-free conditions.[4]
• Oxidation of cyclohexene to adipic acid under organic solvent- and halide-free conditions.[5]
Hydrogen peroxide solution has been used in an immunoblotting protocol.[1]
General description
Hydrogen peroxide solution is commonly used as a bleaching agent.[3] It shows germicidal and sporicidal properties.[6] H2O2 is a reactive oxygen species formed as a reaction product of various aerobic metabolic processes. Its ultra-trace quantification in the concentration range of 10-11mole/ml by a fluorometric method has been described.[2]
