BIO-KID™ Microbiology Science Kit, 10 tests per kit, by Hardy Diagnostics

A new way to explore the unseen world of Microbiology!

Introducing Bio-Kid™ Microbiology kit, a new way for kids to explore the fascinating world of microbiology! This science kit is intended for middle and high school aged kids to perform microbial testing using basic scientific methods in order to discover microbiology. This kit includes 10 petri plates filled with Tryptic Soy Agar (TSA), a general growth medium used for the isolation and cultivation of microorganisms. Bio-Kid™ is a great classroom tool for science fairs, home or classroom projects, or anyone interested in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics).

Hardy Diagnostics has taken to the challenge of making it easier for kids to begin learning and understanding the seemingly invisible world around them.

    Each Kit includes:

    • Tryptic Soy Agar, 15x100mm plates, 10 each.
For use as a general growth medium for the isolation and cultivation of microorganisms (bacteria, yeast, and mold).

    • Saline 0.85%, 13x100mm tube, 1 each.
Physiological saline products are recommended for procedures that require use of an isotonic diluent. It is also recommended for use in preparing test suspensions of organisms.

    • Cotton Swab, sterile, individually wrapped, 10 each.
Collect and transport samples with efficiency and ease.

This kit includes directions for three different experiments for testing the environment, personal hygiene, and the efficacy of disinfectants.

    Easy Steps!

✔ Swab the sample area with the provided swab. If the surface is dry, the swab will need to be pre-moistened with the sterile saline provided in the box.

✔ Gently streak the agar plate with the swab by running the swab in a zig-zag motion across the entire surface of the medium. Be careful not to press too hard and break the agar!

✔ Incubate the plates inverted (agar side on top, lid on the bottom) at 35° C. You can store these plates at room temperature away from direct light, if an incubator isn’t available. (A cardboard box on the top of your fridge might be a great place!)

    Important Note:
