STANDARD ACTIVITY I, ACTIVATED ALUMINA

Alumina, Standard Activity I is a good all-purpose adsorbent for laboratory as well as process use. Alumina, Standard Activity I is similar to the Alumina, Activity Super I in that both are standardized.

The starting activity level of Alumina, Standard Activity I is about half as high as Alumina, Activity Super I and can be deactivated by the addition of polar media (water, alcohols, etc.) according to the deactivation scale. 

• See “Deactivation of Alumina” for the method of deactivating aluminas. Standardized manufacturing processes provide a specific Brockmann dryness level for lot to lot reproducibility and precise deactivation possibilities. The Loss on Ignition (LOI) is 1.7 +/- 0.2% and the specific surface is ~150 m²/g.

Alumina, Standard Activity I is produced in three pH levels: acidic, neutral, and basic. The adsorption behavior is extremely constant. Alumina, Standard Activity I may be used for the purification of solvents. See “Solvent Purification.”
